Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 19, 2026

ProCompare (“the extension”, “we”) is a browser extension that displays a quality summary on shopping product pages and helps you compare products across marketplaces. We built it to be private by default. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what the extension does and does not do with information.

The short version

What we collect and why

On supported shopping sites (AliExpress, Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Temu, and SHEIN), the extension reads publicly visible product details from the page you are viewing — the product title, price, rating, review count, sales count, image, and page URL — and sends them to ProCompare’s servers in order to:

This product data is associated with a random, anonymous device identifier — not your name or any personal account. The extension only activates on the supported shopping sites; we do not collect your browsing on other websites.

What the extension stores on your device

The extension keeps preference data in your browser’s local storage (chrome.storage.local): your theme choice, panel position, and your anonymous device token. This can be cleared at any time by removing the extension.

Right-click image search

The extension adds a “Find this product with ProCompare” item to your right-click menu on images. When you choose it, the extension opens a new tab to Google Lens with the address of the image you clicked, so Google can run a visual search. That request is made by your browser directly to Google and is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. ProCompare does not receive or store the image, the search, or its results.

Affiliate links & clicks

ProCompare is supported by affiliate commissions. The “Buy” and “Search on …” buttons may be affiliate links, and we record when such a link is clicked (the store and product) so we receive proper attribution. We may earn a commission if you purchase — this never increases your price. Visiting those stores is subject to their own privacy policies.

Permissions we request

The extension does not request broad access to all websites by default; its panel runs on the supported shopping sites, and any wider access is requested only if you use a feature that needs it.

Children

ProCompare is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and post the revised version here.
